So you said there are more to this...I'm confused as to whether or not you've posted it yet or not.
I love AU's when done right. <3

As a matter of fact, I finished the next arc just before leaving Japan and after it gets betaed I'm going to start posting it--probably early next week! *bounces nervously*

*beams* Thank you so much! I've really been enjoying this one...in a kind of painful, agonized way. I'll be happy to get them through to the end, I must admit.

GAH. No you didn't. Where's the rest of this??

So, SO good.

Oh, eek! I failed to link the last chapter of the latest arc! It's Watching the Moon, and I'll be hoping to get to the fourth and final arc soonish! Thanks for reminding me about that!

can't wait for the next arc!
I've been a lurker for a while now and have read pretty much your entire oeuvre. and yes i just want to work that word into everything i say because it sounds pretentious and funny at the same time.
anyway, this is one of my favorite series. I love the subtle emotions and how real this AU is. Epic in scale. The third arc is especially heartbreaking because of the undercurrent of sad inevitability.
Can't wait for the next one. HINT HINT.

Re: can't wait for the next arc!
Hi! *hugs* I'm so glad you've liked this so far! The last arc is definitely percolating...it's going to push my action-scene writing abilities, so we shall see. :) But it won't be forever, I promise!
Jul. 22nd, 2009 07:01 pm (UTC)
Oh please...oh *please* tell me that there will be more to this series!
Jul. 23rd, 2009 05:48 am (UTC)
Funny you should ask! I'm almost done with the first chapter of the last arc, actually! It won't get posted until early September at best because my summer is insane, but I think I see my way to the end now and am anxious to finish it up! I'm really glad you're liking it!
Aug. 8th, 2009 03:16 pm (UTC)
Still hope for next chapter. *wink*

The next arc is being written as we speak! The first chapter is all done and the second is nearly done, so...progress! Expect it to start being posted in early September...

I just randomly came across this, and normally I don't really care for Clark/Bruce, but the idea was interesting enough to try it out.

And I loved it. Fantastic work. This was a joy to read and will be going into my memories.

Thank you so much--both for enjoying it and commenting! I'd never written such a big AU before and it was a very fun challenge. :)

Tedddd! Ted really needs more fic love, I kind of wish he got into my fics more often. :) I'm glad you liked this! I don't often tackle big AUs but I had a lot of fun with it. :)

I started reading this story back when the second arc only had 2 chapter. I loved it then and I love it now.

it is my favorite kind of slavefic where the slavery is ugly, arsh,in other word very real. Even if the characters themselves are considerate.

I loved that Bruce's strengh resonated all through the fic without letting us loose sight of how vulnerable he was in this world. no matter how much of a force of nature he was and now matter how kind Kal was he was still Kal's slave.

I also love the fact that you made the love slaves a minority within a labor worker majority. thank you.

all that to ask oyu : Are you ever going to expend on that Universe ? Add vignettes here and there ?
It would be awesome.
Jun. 17th, 2010 12:59 pm (UTC)
Oh, what a pleasure to get feedback like this, I really appreciate it.

no matter how much of a force of nature he was and now matter how kind Kal was he was still Kal's slave.

Yeah, the more I wrote the more it became clear that Bruce (and Kal!) would never, ever be able to forget that Bruce's life still belonged to Kal in a legal sense, and how that would twist their relationship so painfully.

I also love the fact that you made the love slaves a minority within a labor worker majority. thank you.

Heh, thank you for appreciating it, because that was important to me. I did some extra background reading on the subject--probably not enough, but enough that it was clear that the American-style system only works in an agrarian society where the vast majority of slaves are too exhausted and isolated to organize or even communicate.

You know, I actually have plans to write some side stories with Selina and Lex and Kara and J'onn in the future! Thanks for nudge, I'll keep turning them over in my mind and see what comes up. :)

*is dead* I read this all in two days. I couldn't stop. This was just...GUH! I'm a complete mess right now. OMG what have you done to me, you wonderfully evil person!

Seriously, one of the best things I've ever read. EVER. I'm just in complete awe...I'm an awed mess! LOLOMG *flails around happily*

I need more of this world. MOAR I say! Cause it's brilliant, just brilliant! Brava, brava, bravisima! <3

Wow, I am impressed by your dogged reading! :D And I'm so glad you liked it! It was really hard to write at times, just...dealing with the subject matter, you know? But that made it all the more satisfying at the end, when things fell into their proper places at last.

I've definitely thought about doing some side stories with this one! I wanted to look at Lex and Selina's relationship and past more, and I would like to continue it a bit into the future...but it's kind of hard for me to get my head around it at times. Things can't just immediately default to normal (Metropolis especially is a very different place), so...I keep turning it over in my head. Thanks for the encouragement, it's definitely getting me thinking about it again!

One thing I've always, always loved about your fics is your amazing propensity for world-building. You don't just tell stories-you do, and they are beautiful stories-but you create entire universes that your characters inhabit. It's more than just the interactions of the main characters but also the side characters, the minor characters... and the technology, the feel of the earth, the way the moon looks...

And yet I've never forgotten once that this is still rooted in DC. Hell, this can be an Elseworld. The people don't change - even if their behaviour shifts because of what they've been through, their essence remain the same. Dinah. Ollie. Martha and Jonathan. Kara. J'onn. Especially, especially Bruce, Clark and Diana. You write the Trinity really well here. WHY DO YOU NOT WRITE DIANA MORE.

You just- have this amazing ability to just... sit the reader in the character's eyes and let them look out into that world you created. To feel it. Every single bit of it. And it's something familiar yet new and- god.

I want to be you when I grow up.

*blinks at icon* What--what is that from? It's so pretty... *drools*

I'm really glad you liked this! It was a tough series to write for obvious reasons, but I'm so pleased the characters shine through with only minor changes. I do need to write Diana more! I love her and her interactions with Clark and Bruce so much in canon, I wish there were more of them. *sigh* Get them back on the JLA together, DC!

I really came to love this world and the humans (and even some of the Kryptonians) in it a lot, it means a lot to me that the emotion shows through!

This is one of my favourite stories ever. Ever. And I've been reading fanfiction since I was 12 (I'm 20 now) - and I hope you're flattered and don't think I'm a total weirdo, but I printed off the whole thing and bound it so I can read it any time and I've never done that before.
It's phenomenal the way you understand characters, and the way you write is beautiful. I wasn't a fan of Bruce/Clark before I stumbled on your work and now I think I've read every Bruce/Clark story you've written. I'm gushing, sorry!
All the best!

I am totally flattered and don't think you're a weirdo at all! *grin* Thank you so much for letting me know you liked this story, it was a hard one to write at a lot of different levels and ended up going lots of places I hadn't expected at all, so it means a lot to me!
