Interlude: A Kryptonian Roundel Interlude: Pain is Inevitable, Suffering is Optional Interlude: Now and Always Interlude: Brucie Takes the Cake "The Music of the Spheres" is a series set in the combined universes of "Batman Begins" and "Superman Returns." It posits a situation where Superman and Batman are the only costumed heroes in the world, meeting for the first time. A few key notes:

--The series begins very shortly after "Superman Returns" (technically, the first meeting takes place in the middle of the movie) and very shortly after the as-yet-unknown events of the second Batman movie. Batman has been active for about three or four months now.
--The series takes "Batman Begins" as its departure point.  "The Dark Knight" was released after the series started, so those events don't happen as they do in the movies (in the case of Harvey Dent, they're quite different).

Thank you for commenting! It's a huge compliment to be told the voices are right, since the movie versions are so different from the book versions sometimes.

I love 'The Music Of the Spheres' series.It's the wonderful relationship between Clark and Bruce.Sweet and also so real.

I'm wondering if you would permit me to translate the story into Chinese,because I want to share your story with Chinese readers.

wow. I read the entire first arc of this series last night and just...yay! I loved the story line and the characters and I love how they managed to fall in love in their 'real lives' while becoming friends as superheroes. Amazing! Can't wait to read the rest!

I have to echo a lot of people here and really hope you come back to this series!
I don't remember when I started it, but I'm still up 2:34 in the morning addicted to it. I mean - Wow... I can't really put it into words eloquently enough to say how much I love your work. I had to keep myself from laughing out loud a bunch of times and ended up smiling like a loony through most of it. It was so masterfully written!
I should go back and write a comment for each chapter, but I was like "OMGOMG WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?!" I'm jus' extremely happy I read the first arc after you already finished or else I would be dying, seriously dying (like I am right now with your "36 Views of Mt. Fuji"), to see what happened next.
I'm still on "Interlude V" because I read you intended to go for three more arcs in this universe and couldn't help but burst with encouragement on the idea! Well, gotta go read it. heehee :) 3 more hours until work.

Thank you so much! I really enjoyed writing this and am planning on writing at least two more arc in the not-too-distant future. In fact, I'm working on a story about Richard and Lois's wedding right now (well, as the setting, the real focus is Clark and Bruce, of course), so watch this space! :) It's a birthday present for a friend for June 4, so I'd better have it done by then...

OMG...I just finished reading the WHOLE series...and I hope i'm not gushing too much, but it was AWESOMELY FANTASTIC! I mean..the WHOLE series not just a chapter or two..EVERYTHING flowed, it was GENIUS!!

AND..you may find it interesting (or not) on the erotic/sex level, what "turned me on" the most, was the image of Clark at the club dress as a transgender and..dancing..sexily to the music..*gasp and drools at the image* I don't know WHERE you pulled THAT from..but OMG..I was just..um..speechless..That and the part where Bruce is washing his hair of the gold dust..Those two pieces stand out for me..erotically at least..then..I thought the IMing seqencing was GENIUS!!! OMG..I ROFL at it.. And the Faerie/Dragon chapter..Then Clark and Bruce's big reveal to each other who they really are..GENIUS I tell you! OMG..if this *isn't* your real profession, then it most certainly *should* be. EVERY story that I've read that you've written simply blows me AWAY totally..I don't know how you do it. I'm insanely jealous of your skills.. BRAVO for this series. Are you planning more?

I'm going to answer just this comment (LJ is being really flaky night, isn't it?)...thank you so much! *grins a lot*

The scene at the club happened when I read a description in a fanfic of Clark being very flustered and at a loss in a gay bar, and although he was really cute, I thought, "I bet, being an alien and all, that he wouldn't be THAT thrown by something like that." It really was the beginning of the whole series in some ways, so I'm delighted you picked it out! I have such a blast writing it....and Bruce taking care of him after delighted me very much as well.

The Faerie chapter was also a lot of fun--I love mixing in medieval imagery (I'm in the middle of doing it again in Nightwing & Flamebird, because it's been a while!)

I'm so glad you liked this series. I had so much fun writing it. And I'm definitely going to expand it--there are still two full arcs I want to write! In fact, I wrote another Interlude and will be posting it tomorrow! So good timing! *grins*

Wow. I just discovered your fiction and indeed the Superman/Batman fanfic community on LiveJournal. What a treasure trove of gems! I've been devouring stories left and right but my hands-down favorite has been the Music of the Spheres story arc. What a fantastic universe you've crafted here, and a wonderful relationship between Clark and Bruce! And the love scenes....WOW!! I tried to pace myself and read only 2-3 chapters each night but of course I ended up reading the entire story arc in one evening. I hope to see you write more stories set in this universe!

I've actually got four more stories pretty much plotted out and ready to go, and another full arc I want to write...I'm just finishing up a birthday fic first and then will start digging back into it. And, oh, oh, you're the author of Gods and Monsters! I really did not squee as much as I wanted to in my comment, I have to admit--I was struck with sudden shyness at how very awesome it was, I'm dead serious here. It's the best thing I've read in ages. I've only read the very first TPB, but the canon references didn't interfere with my ability to enjoy the wonderful characterization and slow build of trust (there are few characters for whom trust is as sexy as for Midnighter!) I loved it--um, so, will you be writing any more fanfiction? Of any sort? :)

I found this story last night, and read the first arch in one sitting. It's wonderful. Your Clark is just right, equal parts hero, lover, and geek. Bruce . . .We have a Bruce who doesn't fear his feeling more than the criminal element fears him. It's amazing!

I was bored, and trolling friendsfriends, and came upon this. And I LOVE it. I will admit that I dont really follow Superman/Batman fic, but I'm certainly going to now! I really like how they're portrayed, how they fit in together. Alfred is wonderfully in character. And I especially like how Clark interacts with Jason. Lovely lovely lovely. I've bookmarked this page, and will be waiting for more! :D

I keep forgetting that it's actualy nice to tell the author that I enjoy what they're writing. So I decided I should do that now, since I've been coming here for awhile now :)

Actualy the thing is I don't even know how I really ended up here. I'm not much of a DC kind of girl, know enough to recognise most of the characters, but not necessarily much more. Have seen the movies of course, but... yes, my point was going to be that I don't really read any DC fanfic. And I don't think I've ever read any Bruce/Clark before. I guess there's a lot of that ship around, but that's probably why I haven't read it before. However this is quite wonderful and proves quite well that just because a particular pairing is quite popular doesn't mean there can't be quite amazing and original stories out there. Because this one is.

This was a realy long explanation to say that I love the whole story and can't wait for more, but since I'll probably forget to ever say anything at all again... well, I'll still be loving every part of this :)

An absolutly bueatiful story/series. I've never been a slash fan but the past 3 weeks I have read every B/S story I can find. I've been in bed with flu. Yours really are some of my fav's I love watching them getting together. Seeing the differing interpritations of thier dynamic.

I can't really singel out a single sence or story to compliment as I read ALL your stories so close together that I've over loaded on them. At some point i'll go back and read them at a slower pace and take the time to coment on them indervidually.

Please keep up the great work and feed my new addiction.

I've never been a slash fan but the past 3 weeks I have read every B/S story I can find.

Woot! Honestly, I think this pairing is an excellent slash-starter (well, if you can past the "augh, childhood icons making out" angle), because it's just a step away from the very intense friendship they definitely have in canon for each other. (I actually like writing the friendship about as much as the romance, lol)

Reading all my S/B at once would lead anyone to overdose! :) Thank you for taking the time to tell me you enjoyed them, it really made my day. *beams*

I have been sitting here enthralled for the last few days. This series is absolutely fabulous! I adore your Bruce and Clark and I hope you continue with many more arcs!

Also, if you did an arc in the Justice League timeline I would love you forever. I just have this scene in my head of Bruce and Clark -out of costume- making out in the Watchtower and getting caught by the rest of the League. At which point Bruce says something remotely plausible about having the Watchtower code since WayneCorp built the place and is generally feckless before pulling Clark into the transporter and disappearing. The League stares incredulously and Green Lantern says, "That guy has the code to the Watchtower?" and Flash cringes and says, "Do you think Batman knows?" while Wonder Woman and Hawkgirl discuss how cute a couple Bruce and Clark are in the background.

*ahem* Clearly I have spent too much time thinking about this. Sorry. Anyway, loved the fic!

Sadly, it will never happen in MotS, because in that series Bruce and Clark remain the only superheroes--but you know, if you don't mind, I will happily put it on my list of things I want to write and give you credit for the idea! It would totally have to be movieverse-based--something about Bale is just perfect for that kind of behavior. :) I love it...*makes note in "bunny list" file pending your approval*

Twice through, and I still find new things to love! This trend will undoubtedly continue. Also, thanks a whole lot for making me alternately stifle giggles and grin like a goon, and wibble and sniff like an overly-emotional teenage girl. My roommates all think I've gone insane. It's hard to explain shiplove to people who think my obsessions are idiotic. Jerks. Anyway, I love this series! :D Great job. I can't wait to see more of your work.

I found "Music of the Spheres" listed on a recommendation page, so I gave it a shot. This series has to be one of the most beautiful, skillfully done stories slashing these incredibly complex characters, even before you factor in the difficulty of keeping everything fresh and flowing despite the epic size of the work as a whole. And the rest of your work is just as amazing. Thank you for keeping up with this!

I feel SO dumb. When I first came to this page like a year ago it was for a rec on The Music of The Spheres. So I read that, loved it of course then LEFT, thinking that was the end of it.

It was only when I clicked on this bookmark today, then decided to read some of the "other" series on this page that I realized OMFG their all connected!! So I basically missed out on not one, but THREE sequels the last time.

Ive just finished reading my way through this entire series (in 2 days!) and have enjoyed every moment of it. So many great lines and much love for including so many classic villains (Poison Ivy is a particular favourite of mine :D).

Ive never read Bruce/Clark fic before and Im so glad this is my first. Thanks for the great fic and I cant wait to see more in this 'verse!

*dances* Thank you so very much! I love writing Poison Ivy as well--she's a villain I can get into the head of (I can't even try with the Joker anymore, he's totally impossible, lol). I'm very glad you liked it!

If you would like to hunt down some more of the pairing, I would highly recommend checking [info]worlds_finest, which is a good comm for the pairing--I also have a bunch of my favorites in my rather poorly organized memories section, under "S/B."

Hiya!

I am a huge fan of this series, and when I got my kindle recently it was one of the long fics I wanted to have on it for rereading. I made a giant ebook of the entire series (to date). Of course, I list you as the author and my name is nowhere on it.

I was wondering if you wanted a copy of the giant html file I made of all the series and the ebook I made out of that. The ebook is quite nice - it has a table of contents that links to each chapter and the cover page and everything.

I was also wondering if it would be all right to share the ebook with [info]fanfic_ebooks (and maybe put it in their archive?) and [info]worlds_finest or [info]? All credit of authorship to you, of course. I just thought other people might want it for their computers or readers as well :)
