*snickers*

There's just something about the mental image of Clark's mind going blank and straight into the gutter when Batman 'yells' at him that just gets me going. lol

Bonus: Lois is intimidated into shutting up. For the most part. lol

He totally cracks me up! "Mmmm, yelling Batman. Oh, yes, lecture me! Lecture me more! And harder!" *grin*

Lois actually closing her mouth was indeed a bonus. :)

This was so funny and cute. Loved Lois, and Batman was so intense. LOL This definitely put a smile on my face. Bravo.

The Lois in my head is generally much cooler than the canon Lois, lol. :) Once she and Clark separate I actually find her fun to write! And of course Batman looming out of fog comes rather naturally... :)

Clark pinched the bridge of his nose. "We can hope. Reading about that place always gives me a headache," he muttered. "They should just raze it to the ground and sow the land with salt."

Arkham is like the Platonic Scary, Horrible Asylum. I swear, it makes criminials worse just in time to release them to the public. *wry* No one ever stays in there! Of course, the same could be said for any prison in a comics universe. *g*

"You can't really spend any time here and not start to see this city as an almost living entity. And very much female," he added wryly.

I love this part of your conception of the DC universe. I don't know that I've seen it quite this way in other fic. I like it.

Lois put her hands on her hips in exasperation. "Oh, come on. What is this, a bad cliche? Getting mugged in Gotham is like getting your picture taken with Mickey Mouse at Disneyworld."

*laughing* That's so perfect, and so very Lois. I love it. *grinning*

Batman rose from the unconscious body like a vampire in an old B-movie, the mist swirling crazily around him.

I have such a clear mental image of this. :-) So dramatic. I love that Batman has that kind of flair.

"And you," growled the vigilante, "I'm sure your pretty little boyfriend is anxious to have you back in his bed where you belong." Something like contempt etched his voice, and he leaned in far too close to Clark, whose eyes were very wide behind the thick glasses. "Do us both a favor and don't keep him waiting."

*chortles* Bruce so enjoyed that, I know it!

She glanced over at Clark, who was staring rather glassily at nothing. "Clark?"

Of course, Clark enjoyed it, too. *giggling*

Arkham is one of the parts of the DC universe that most strains my credulity, in some ways. You'd think Bruce Wayne would put nearly all of his considerable resources to reforming the place, for so many reasons! I've seen people come up with ways to explain that away, but I would think it would be a top priority...

starsandsea has a fic series where she writes from Gotham's POV, which is very effective and chilling. I've gotten a lot of inspiration from that!

*grin* I love the moment in Batman Begins where Ra's says, "I see you took my lessons about the theatrical to heart." :) He's a bit of a showman at core, I think...in this series I'm able to write him as applying quite a bit of gusto to it, because he has Clark to share it with so early. It's been a lot of fun!

*nods* Sometimes I think the most frustrating things about comics fandom are the things that you understand why the writers have to do it that way, but there just isn't any logic that explains it in-universe.

Ooooh, that does sound interesting. Is it a Bruce/Clark series?

Hee! Yes, that was a very fun moment. Especially since everyone else was so afraid of Batman and took him so seriously. It made it extra amusing to see someone acknowledge that it is just a bit ridiculous.

It is, although the series has stalled a bit just at the moment Clark enters the story (Gotham Does Not Approve) It's here if you want to give it a look.

I've been bugging my husband to make a Bruce/Gotham OTP icon for use, but so far no luck. :)

Awwww. It's just enough to tease, alas.

The characterizations were absolutely perfect and unlike most stories where Lois' characterization was perfect I didn't want to ring her neck.

OMG, that's such a perfect turn of phrase! It's true, when she's written close to some versions of her character it doesn't mater that she's in-character, you just want to run away. :) I'm glad you liked her! I'm just about to start another story with a lot of her in it for MotS, so the compliment is well-timed. :)

Batman spun abruptly to round on Clark, who took a hasty step back until he collided with a crumbling brick wall.

This is so good :]. Especially with MotS context, knowing how Clark likes Batman's voice.

Guh. One of my favorite tropes in action here (Batman saving Clark Kent).

Also, it was sweet to see Clark and Lois bonding over Gotham as friends! And:

Lois leafed through her notes. "Its history is appalling. So many abuses, so many tragedies...the very stones there must be soaked with insanity."

Lois managed to sum up everything I love about Arkham as a setting in a single sentence. <3
